On the 27th of November, the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) held its final Global Advisory Council meeting of 2024 at the historic Ironmongers’ Hall in London. The event brought together strategic partners, dignitaries, and key stakeholders from across the Commonwealth for an afternoon of networking, updates, and engaging discussions.
The Global Advisory Council provides a unique platform for CWEIC’s network to connect, welcome new members, and exchange ideas. It also serves as an opportunity for CWEIC to highlight its recent activities and share plans for the future.
This year, CWEIC was privileged to welcome Gareth Thomas MP, Minister for Services, Small Businesses, and Exports at the Department for Business and Trade. In his address, Mr Thomas provided an insightful overview of the Labour government’s priorities and ambitions as it embarks on its next five years in office. He shared key policy goals, with a particular focus on how the government plans to strengthen its engagement with the Commonwealth.
We were also honoured to welcome Hon. Johany S. Ebanks, Minister of Planning, Agriculture, Housing & Infrastructure, and Transport & Development for the Cayman Islands Government. Minister Ebanks shared valuable insights on the Cayman Islands’ growth strategies, with a focus on infrastructure and development initiatives.
As the year draws to a close, the meeting was a reminder of the strength and potential of the connections formed within the network and CWEIC would like to thank our Strategic Partners for their support in 2024.
