CWEIC Strategic Partner, FEICOM, Celebrates Fiftieth Anniversary

The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) proudly congratulates the Cameroon based Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance (FEICOM) on its 50th anniversary. Since its founding on 5 December 1974, FEICOM has been pivotal in driving local and regional development, decentralisation, and improving living conditions. Under the patronage of the President of the Republic, FEICOM celebrated this milestone with activities showcasing its achievements in resource mobilisation, project financing, and modernised governance standards.

This series of events began with the official launch on 11 October 2024, chaired by Mr Georges Elanga Obam, Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development, the personal representative of the President of the Republic, and the Head of State at this fiftieth anniversary.

This was followed by football and handball matches, as well as the first edition of the Day of Living Together and Remembrance on the 28th Nov 2024, where representatives from academic institutions, the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism and Yaoundé Pilot Linguistic Centre, as well as many retired FEICOM staff, attended. In their testimonies, retired staff members highlighted, among other things, the importance of hard work, discipline, humility, mastery of objectives, delegation of responsibilities and staff training. These events were also an opportunity for the younger generation to grasp the professional and human values that underpin FEICOM’s existence, where a symbolic handing over of baton occurred between the two generations.

A photo exhibition with 50 pictures on the institutional evolution of FEICOM was displayed from the 2nd to the 5th of December 2025. This was followed by an international conference on financing local development across viewpoints, where discussions on challenges and issues of financing local development, innovative financing for sustainable and resilient development, strengthening local government financing institutions and development financing models in Africa and Cameroon were held. The last activities of the celebrations were the launch ceremony of the 50th anniversary Golden Book, entitled “FEICOM: MATURITY” followed by the gala evening.

CWEIC applauds FEICOM’s enduring dedication to progress, inclusion, and the promotion of bilingualism and multiculturalism.
