CWEIC’s CEO Engages with Ghana’s New Government to Strengthen Trade and Investment

Rosie Glazebrook, Chief Executive of CWEIC, visited Ghana to engage with local Strategic Partners and strengthen relationships with the newly elected government. The visit aimed to reinforce CWEIC’s commitment to supporting trade, investment, and economic collaboration in the region.
The visit commenced with a breakfast meeting attended by both locally based Strategic Partners and those who had travelled from Sri Lanka, Canada, and the UK. This gathering provided an opportunity for CWEIC to share updates on upcoming initiatives, while partners exchanged insights on key developments in their businesses and outlined future growth plans. The discussions also highlighted potential areas for collaboration, aligning with Ghana’s evolving economic priorities under the new administration.


The first day also saw Rosie and the delegation meet with the Ghana Development Bank and the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre to discuss investment opportunities and financial collaboration in Ghana.
A key highlight of the visit was a meeting with the newly elected President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. Also in attendance were the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to the President, Joyce Bawah Mogtari. Discussions focused on strengthening strategic partnerships, with a particular emphasis on supporting the President’s vision for a 24/7 economy. Given CWEIC’s role in fostering trade and investment across the Commonwealth, the organisation is well-positioned to collaborate on initiatives that drive economic growth, attract foreign investment, and enhance Ghana’s position as a regional business hub.


During the visit, Rosie also met with the with the Hon. Seidu Issifu MP, Ghana’s first Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability. The discussions focused on investment prospects in climate resilience, renewable energy, and sustainability-driven economic growth, aligning with the new government’s vision for a greener and more sustainable future. The Minister welcomed the engagement, stressing the importance of fostering partnerships to drive innovative climate solutions. He highlighted the country’s commitment to sustainable development and the need for strategic alliances to support climate adaptation, green technology investments, and knowledge exchange.

Rosie and the delegation also held discussions with Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah MP, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, and Hon. Emelia Arthur MP, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, exploring opportunities for collaboration in these key sectors.

Additionally, Rosie had the honour of meeting His Majesty Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, in Kumasi, as well as His Majesty Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, reinforcing CWEIC’s commitment to engaging with Ghana’s traditional leadership and fostering strong relationships across all levels of governance.
