CWEIC CEO Rosie Glazebrook’s Visits Kenya

Rosie Glazebrook, Chief Executive of CWEIC, has concluded a successful visit to Kenya to host the Kenya International Advisory Council, meet with government ministers, and engage with key stakeholders.

Meeting with the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry

A key highlight of the visit was the meeting with Hon. Lee Kinyanjui, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry. Joined by CWEIC’s Strategic Partners—RentCo, LOLC, Brunswick, Equity, the Government of Alberta, E-Tranzact, and James Harris, CWEIC’s Middle East Strategic Adviser—delegates had the opportunity to engage directly with the Kenyan government.

Discussions centred on how CWEIC can support Kenya in expanding its exports across the 55 Commonwealth countries, attracting investors from within the Commonwealth to set up operations in Kenya, and fostering youth engagement and employment. There was also a focus on establishing a Strategic Partnership with the Government to enhance economic collaboration.

Kenya’s economy stands as one of Africa’s most dynamic, underpinned by a strong services sector, innovation in fintech and digital trade, and a growing manufacturing base. However, challenges such as youth unemployment, access to capital for SMEs, and the need for infrastructure development remain key priorities. CWEIC is well-positioned to support Kenya in addressing these challenges by leveraging its global network to facilitate trade and investment, connecting Kenyan businesses with international markets, and promoting strategic collaborations that drive sustainable economic growth.

RentCo Lunch

CWEIC was honoured to be hosted for an exclusive luncheon at Capital Club East Africa in Nairobi by our Strategic Partner, RentCo.

The event brought together top business leaders for insightful discussions on investment and business opportunities within the Commonwealth network. This Networking Forum fostered valuable connections, strategic collaborations, and conversations on unlocking growth across key markets.

Kenya International Advisory Council Meeting

CWEIC’s East and Central Africa Hub, launched in 2023, continues to strengthen regional trade and investment ties. We were pleased to host the Kenya International Advisory Council Meeting, bringing together our Strategic Partners in Kenya and visiting delegates for a high-level discussion on business opportunities.

Dr James Mwangi CBS, Chair of the Hub, and CWEIC CEO Rosie Glazebrook hosted the breakfast at Muthaiga Club, attended by representatives from Equity Group, BDO, RentCo, Elgon, the Government of Alberta, e-Tranzact, LOLC, BII, and Africa Specialty Risks, along with the Head of Mission for Ghana, CWEIC’s Middle East Strategic Adviser James Harris, the Deputy Australian High Commissioner, and trade representatives from the British and Canadian High Commissions.

The discussions focused on enhancing trade, unlocking investment opportunities, and strengthening Commonwealth business partnerships, reaffirming CWEIC’s commitment to Kenya and the region.

Kenya Investment Authority

CWEIC also led a highly productive engagement with John Mwendwa OGW, Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest). Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration to drive investment into Kenya, leveraging both Kenya’s strategic position and CWEIC’s extensive global network. Key areas of cooperation identified include strategic planning for global engagements to maximize impact, identifying investment opportunities across key sectors to attract high-value partnerships, and fostering strategic alliances between Kenyan enterprises and international investors. CWEIC remains committed to supporting Kenya’s investment ambitions through our East and Central Africa Hub, based out of Nairobi, and looks forward to deepening partnerships that drive economic growth and long-term prosperity.
