Lord Marland, Chairman of CWEIC, met with the Hon. Frederick A. Mitchell, Member of Parliament and Minister of Foreign Affairs for The Bahamas. This meeting builds upon the fruitful engagement initiated during a roundtable discussion in May 2023, where Lord Marland, alongside the Prime Minister of The Bahamas and Hon. Mitchell, delved into the critical theme of “The Blue Green Economy and Resilience for Small Island States”.

During their dialogue, discussions centred on fostering closer economic ties between The Bahamas and the Commonwealth. Specifically, they explored the prospect of a Bahamian delegation journeying to the UK to facilitate trade of goods, laying groundwork for mutually beneficial commercial partnerships. Additionally, plans were made to extend invitations for Bahamian representation at the upcoming Commonwealth Business Forum in Samoa, underscoring the commitment to leveraging the diverse opportunities within the Commonwealth network for sustainable economic development and growth.
