Rio TintoRob is Chief Adviser for UK and International Affairs at Rio Tinto, focusing on geopolitical advice, political risk, and government engagement. Before that, Rob worked as a UK diplomat, including in Bucharest, Washington DC, Delhi, and in Nairobi as High Commissioner. More recently he was British Ambassador to Iran.
Between those postings, Rob did a five year spell in industry, as Director of Political Risk for BG Group plc.
His professional interests have centred around international development, counter-terrorism and extremism, conflict resolution, and the relationship between business and government in international affairs. In his current role he is particularly interested in the energy transition and the intersection of public and private sector strategies.
